# Elemental Affinity System

Every wave in this season comes with one or more **Elemental Affinities**: ***Fire**, **Water**, **Wind**, and **Energy**.*

Enemies spawn with elemental shields matching the Wave's Affinities. To deal damage, you must first break the shield using abilities of the correct Elemental Affinity.

Mastering your elemental setup becomes essential for getting through further waves.

#### Player Affinities

Each skill you learn belongs to an Elemental Affinity. Your Affinity Level for each Element equals the highest-level skill of that Affinity, up to a maximum of Level 6.&#x20;

*Example:* If you have three Fire skills\
(Level 3, Level 5, and Level 6), Your Fire Affinity Level is 6.

During a run, only one skill can be upgraded to Level 6 (Evolution); all other skills are capped at Level 5, before you claim all [Shrines](https://tollan.gitbook.io/season4/gameplay/shrines-and-keys-system).&#x20;

You can upgrade one additional skill  to Level 6 (Evolution) after all shrines have been claimed.
